Tips on Cleaning and Pressure Washing Concrete Floors
Pressure washing is a great way to clean concrete. But to have a good job and nice results it's very important to know more about the cleaning of concrete in general and also specific things to keep in mind when pressure washing. In this article, I have put together seven tips on cleaning concrete which is helpful to know.
Sweep and Pick Up Debris
Before you start cleaning your concrete floor, sweep up any debris that may be on it. This will help prevent scratches on the surface as you move around during the cleaning process. You can use a broom or a dustpan (for small pieces of trash). If you have larger items like leaves or acorns, they may need to be picked up by hand.
Use a Pressure Washer
A pressure washer uses a high-pressure stream of water to remove dirt and other unwanted substances from surfaces. This method works best on outdoor concrete floors that have been sealed with an epoxy or asphalt sealer. Concrete flooring should be allowed to dry thoroughly after washing before sealing it again.
Scrub With a Concrete Floor Cleaner
A pressure washer is a great way to clean concrete floors, but it will not replace your regular cleaning routine. You need to scrub the floor with a concrete floor cleaner first. This will remove any dirt or stains from the surface of your concrete. Once this is done, use the pressure washer to rinse off the cleaner and get rid of any residue that may remain on the flooring surface.
Sweep Again and Let It Dry
Sweep all of the debris away from the concrete, then sweep again to make sure you got everything. This is a good time to clean out your broom or leaf blower. Sweep one final time with a broom or leaf blower to get rid of any stray dust or debris that might have been left behind.
Takeaway: If you have any lingering issues, please leave a comment and I'll be glad to help you out. Note that I wrote this guide specifically for people who need to clean or pressure wash concrete floors but don't want to use chemicals or put too much time and effort into the process. It's possible your situation might be different–obviously, if you want to clean your floors with chemicals, or spend hours on the project–then what I've written here won't apply.

ReplyDeleteA concrete washout is a temporary containment system used to capture and collect the contaminated water and slurry from washing out concrete floors after completing a pour. For indoor concrete floors that are polished , you’ll need to take a gentler approach to how to clean it. You’ll just use a bucket of water mixed with a mild cleaner. Don’t use ammonia, bleach or any highly acidic substance on polished or stamped floors. Some good cleaners include Castile soap, liquid dish detergent, stone cleaners and mild floor cleaners. KEVCO strive to deliver the highest quality concrete floors that will exceed your expectations—and we stand behind our work with a complete satisfaction guarantee.
